Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that has provided file and print services to all manner of SMB/CIFS clients, including the numerous versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems for many years. Samba is a software package that gives network administrators flexibility and freedom in terms of setup, configuration, and choice of systems and equipment. Because of all that it offers, Samba has grown in popularity, and continues to do so, every year since its release in 1992. Samba is freely available under the GNU General Public License.

At this Samba workshop, you will get the opportunitiy to influence on the topics covered. That will be discussed at the workshop to reflect on the needs of the participans. Possible topics can be: Samba as a PDC/BDC with the help of LDAP, Samba as a printserver with or without CUPS, Samba as a Member of an ADS-Networks, perfomance-tuning, enhancing Samba with VFS. Only to mention a few.

Part of the training time will be made available for group discussion of problems you will bring to the workshop. Do your homework! Come prepared with detailed written overviews of real-world problems you need to have solved.

Course reference

First Samba 3.0 Advanced Training Course was held in Ljubljana from May 24th to 25th, 2004. A group of 10 trainees came from several Slovenian and Croatian companies. There were all Samba users and were having high course expectations.

Listen and learn from an expert on Samba 3.4.5. (current stable, production Samba server), author of many books, IT professional with many years of experiences on Linux and owner of all known Linux certifications, Mr. Jens Kühnel.
