Innovation management in ICT course

In two days you will experience the essence of innovation management: not a seizure of geniality, but merely a discipline, with its own, fairly simple rules. As Peter Drucker wrote in his famous book "Innovation and Entrepreneurship", actual here and now, as it wouldn’t be written 25 years ago.

In this course, you will get comprehensive inputs about both

  • general innovation management for any company as well as,
  • the impact on ICT service providers, internal and external ones.


Here is the short curriculum, which will be presented to you in 10 hours of lecture:

1. Introduction in innovation area: 6 elementary questions, definitions and principles, innovation aspects (dimensions)

2. Are the innovations always positive: barriers and blockades, risks, conflicts?

3. Innovation in the organization (not in the art!): what for, how to make successful buy-in, position in world and regional companies

4. Innovation in IT: utility vs. transformation, demand vs. supply, internal vs. external, internal marketing

5. Leading innovative people: motivation, innovation selection (big vs. small innovations, what is NOT an innovation), managing innovation process and participants, awareness, innovation of management/leadership

Course objectives

Each participant will acquire insight in the innovation area as well as practical knowledge how to manage innovation process within his/her organization. On the top of these objectives, IT/business leaders will be able to recognize their role in the overall innovation process in the company and to help to other parts to implement it properly.

At the end of the course, each participant will be able to:

  • identify innovation opportunities in their organizations/companies (green-field or improvement),
  • evaluate benefit pools (profit portfolio) of innovations,
  • communicate effectively innovation potentials of specific projects (buy-in), especially aimed to sustainable growth,
  • organize effective processes, mainly improving culture and organization,
  • lead the talents by informing, coaching and motivating people harnessing their best capabilities,
  • development of clear, collaborative and integrated operating innovation management model,
  • »Infect« other people in the organization with their innovation vision and commitment.

Miroslav Mađarić, B.Sc.E.E., Ph.D – KBC-Zagreb 
 
Miroslav Mađarić graduated at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Zagreb, Computer Science study. Since than, he has been working in the field of Information Technology (IT) and has been promoting innovative approaches as an Executive Director or Manager. He has dedicated a considerable part of his career to IT in Medicine in Croatia and Austria, an area in which he received his Master of Science and Doctorate (Ph.D.). Between 2002 – 2007, he was CIO in Ina, Croatian national oil company. Starting 2008. he holds the position of CIO in University Hospital center Zagreb. He published more than 80 professional and scientific papers. He affirmed his interest for managing innovation through collaboration in internal company processes and in innovation related publications in the field of IT.
